Ride
Today's run predicted heavy rain to the west and lighter rain showers
to east. So we headed there and found weather wise as predicted.
Six bikes attended today: Raymie, Stevie, Bill, Yer Gaz, Auld John and
Henry (no Tracey today – working).
The run route took us to Selkirk and many a fine road to and from
– B's are better by far, eh !
A wee treat enroute was bein' stopped for an hour for the Tour of
Britain Cycle Race. This was at Tweedsmuir (south of Broughton).
Amazing just how many Police Motorcyclists this required. I jest not in
sharing near thirty were involved and all ahead of the 30 or so
cyclists (okay maybe there was few more cyclists than bike cops, but
not too many ! But heh, quieter roads for us then maybe ! :)
Another wee moment, was Stevie producing a flask and a jam sponge from
his panniers while we waited and complete with what appeared to be a
mini machete to cut it with !!! Luckily though the full force of
the Law did not bear upon his person for sic a blade; nor thankfully on
us or anyone else over the day: a good day on the roads then; at
least where we went anyway.
Best roads o' the day: the wee back road (a cycle race diversion) as
took us frae Tweedsmuir to Cappercleuch. Nae speed, but memorable
views an' if ye huvnae ridden it, do it ! The other micht be frae a
fine lunch by St Mary's Loch up tae Selkirk; patchy wet/dry surface an
a bend or twa – concentrate an' relax – fun fun fun.
In brief it was grand day – aye it was wet for a half hour by
Roberton and on the way back from Peebles. But for those who know; some
o' the best riding can be ower a wet day. Plus if our weather continues
next year as this; then we may need to toughen up and take it as the
norm'. If this comes tae be, we'll need tae remind Henry to
replace his Metzelers wae Roadsmarts, so that he disnae keep holdin' us
up ! :) :) :)
Applecross Ride Report
Still to write a report on this. However Auld John's still recorvering from hils cold !!, so we'll leave it for nowReport
that sounds a bit official ……….. How about Rollin Bones
Club ride out, meet Morrison's Cambuslang 9:00 for 9:30 not sure if that's
also accurate 9:50 only two bikes can we still call it a club ride out?
No hold on here comes Captain Slow, die hard Captain Slow, 3 bikes now, still
not quite a club yet. I know I'll press gang my brother, 4 bikes, now were
a club.
That's us were off, wait a minute is Kelso not South? were heading north;Sat
Nav's going in the bin.
Inverary ride out
So that's KTM Orange, Diesel Dave, Captain Slow, and my Brother Paul, Inverary bound, dead excited, on new M74 heading for Erskine Bridge. First stop Arrochar Pit Stop for a much needed cup of coffee and a chance to dry off, yes its been pissing down and I don't have any waterproofs ( Twat ), Quick visit to the pisser and off again. Change of plan, Rest and be Thankful looking rather wet, let's head back to Tarbet, onto Cairnlarich, Strathayre, Callander, Drymen, and Home.
Callander ride out
Down to 3 Bikes, Brother decides were all wimps and heads for Inveraray by himself….Probably to join a club with more than three members.
Onward bound up the side
of the Loch, Pissing down big time, whose idea was this, (Mine) good
news, as soon as Diesel Dave puts on his waterproofs and the rain
stopped, you guessed it there's no Fecking way we let him take off his
waterproofs for the rest off the day.
Stopped for Fuel just Before Killin, KTM's a thirsty but deserving
lady, decide to stop at the Venison burger bar just up the road, That's
the Burger bar just up the road DD, Yeh no problem stop at the Burger
Bar just up the road,
DD was at Strathyre before he realised we'd stopped at the BURGER BAR 6 MILES BACK.
The Venison Burger and coffee was its usual standard First Class, and the entertainment was even better, got talking to a fellow biker, who preceded to tell us about his mate who was killed in a bike accident last year, he was also involved in another accident were he had actually died twice, and then about a biker who was killed this weekend nearby. Cheery Guy, reminded me of the Rev I Am Jolly, I wouldn't have minded but we only asked him the time…Then two Caravan Club holiday makers thought the Burger Bar was a drive through, one was a twin axle 22 foot van, to be fair the guy did very well, missing all the bikes with his 55 point U Turn, but burnt out his clutch, the other one was a 4 foot two berth pocket caravan the guy nearly took out the seating area and a couple of bikes, we helped him unhitch and spin it round. By this time we were sitting Sun Bathing although DD was looking a bit red, he still had his waterproofs on.
Onward to Callander, as usual car park was full of the ice cream licking Blue Rinse Brigade, DD was in his element eyeing up the wrinkly's.(should have went to spec savers Dave), Sun's still shinning, turned out to be a really good day.
Homeward bound, via
Stockiemuir Rd, Carbeth Inn, home by 4 o'clock 130 miles later..
So to recap: Poor turn out.
Didn't go to Kelso
Didn't Got To Inverary.
Followed the Sun. (Well Almost)
Don't Follow DD When Hunting Venison.
Avoid the Rev Jolly's of this world..
Be prepared to help stuck Caravans.
Need to Book an appointment at Spec saver's for DD
No Mishaps.
Good Company.
Good day all round thanks Guys…….
Pity About
Turnout….
