Track Evening... a wee lookie !?

Can the followin peeps this wee note micht apply tae, please give me a bell ?

Jim Madden, Bill Glaister, Raymie, Twinloon, Stuart urr embdi else wanting to be there.

Intention is to leave Cambuslang this Friday around 4.00pm to go up to Knockhill as 'interested' spectators at this Friday's tracknight. The game plan is to have a wee evenin' lookin' at lines, brakin' points etc and to jist enjoy watchin' the bikes go round an' generally havin' a wee nicht oot wae some o' yer bikin' buddies..... any takers ???

As said if yer interested, ring me and we'll meet up - I'm defo goin' so ah'm waitin'.....

NB: It looks like yon Henry is richt an' we - sorry make that me - has cocked it up by not bookin' early enough for the track nights. In conversation wae the lass what takes to do wae runnin' them, it's clear they are now much much more popular than a few years ago...

So we'll likely not be on track for a club night until spring...sorry folks.

'True Grit' in bike ridin' furr twa ladies...

You here often; mostly within racin' circles of tough performances in riding. OOOOO These might be in riding through injury or notably in mental toughness.....OOOOOOO We've all heard it; the cliche of - 'When the goin' get's tough, the tough get goin' !

Well below are two wee snippets that us men folks would do well tae heed. OOOOO They both highlight jist how tough oor ladies can be, when they are called to give their best.....

Mileage ? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOO Twinloon's guid lady and Henry's fine lass Tiger Tracey; have each just returned from big mileage bike tours. The former covered some 900 miles and the latter 1600 miles.

Now ye micht be thinkin' an' what is so special in that ? Well if it were a case of simply the miles, then not a lot. As we male riders, too often fall into thinking, what's so special about miles as a pillion !

Well, lookin' at it frae a pillion perspective; if you have recently had a wee shot on the back seat, then ye'll be well aquainted that such pillion mileage, needs a tough resolute attitude. Of course it can be quite a pleasant experience, but in some circumstances, it isnae. However, for both these ladies we can put to one side any pillion outlooks; as these ladies were riding their own bikes.....

Violet's yarn: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Violet used to ride regularly. In fact when she and the Twinloon met - it wisnae yesterday, by the way - they were both riding big bikes everyday. Twixt now an' then, families an' other concerns kept both away from riding. But some eight or so years back, yer man Mick or as he's best known to yer scribe - Twinloon, returned to two wheels. But when Twinloon did, Violet didn't.... until recently.

So if Violet was away from the saddle for so long - well let's jist say for, erm eh... can I play safe an' leave it at double figures - what encouraged the return ? O

Well likely more than one issue. But a part in the decision would likely have been that their son Scott recently took to two wheels. This is on his DT125 - see the Kelso yarn under events. So the time was right for our Violet to get back astride a big single; by which I'm meanin' a Bee Emm GS650 !

So for the early part of this year, skills a long time recumbent, have been slowly reawakened and fettled. Till it seemed that a wee journay across the Irish Sea would aid the cause as the next step. Now bare in mind mileage since riding again is still relatively limited. Then add to this equation, that we are not speakin' here about 'all the gear an' no idea' - in fact quite the reverse. Yes there was a decent sized bike to set off touring on. But given matters still being at an early stage; there was not such as Goretex suits or similar gloves or boots. Nor was there a fairing or yer normal tourin' aids such as heated grips - it's summer after all !!!

Get the gear...: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Now ye might be pickin' up an' idea of where the strength of character came in... Suffice to say that over the course of the five days away; it rained heavily all but everyday and all day. Then add to this constant non stop stair rod rain, howlin' gale force winds of the west coast of Ireland and you'll be gettin an idea of whit Violet was dealin' with an' the kinda of riding I mean.

Your man Twinloon had of course, a screen, heated grips, hand guards an' of course Goretex evrehin' ....includin' hankies. Okay mebbe ah'm exagerrating a tad ther'...but ye get the idea.

Over the course of the 5 days, Violet had black poly bags on her feet, newspapers doon the front o' her not at all 'waterproof suit'. But no matter what was tried, gloves an' notably socks were wrung out wae a nice flow of cold irish precipitation each day. In fact so bad was it; that new gear in an oversuit was bought enroute. Yes better, but still with freezin hands and soakin' wet feet......

A sight seein' and a planned pleasant wee tour, turned intae a nightmare of wetty wettness like ye wouldnae believe.... I had been watchin' the weather reports, an' tried to keep their bouyancy goin' wae the odd cheery up text... a specialize in odd texts :)

Anyway... well done Violet. A case of definite grit an' an almost frightning resolve to get the job done. With yon approach you could ride round the world - an likely better than those two actors....

Twinloon McGregor an Violet Boorman ridin' the 'Green Way Roon' !!!

Tiger Tracey's yarn: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Now I have limited info on this journey undertaken by our newest new members in Henry an' his fine lassie, Tiger Tracey. So it is mebbe best, if a tell it like it was told to me.... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Someone was yakkin' away in my ear at the club the other night. They were on about about me not gettin' on wae the Away Wahay 3 story an' no piccies either for the website. There point bein'... it had been near two months an' what was happenin' ?

Like a have nuthin else to do wae my time, other than write all this rubbish for a web site that only the vision impaired an' bored witless would even think o' readin'....

Anyway, once I'd managed tae side step their moan, the general topic raised the general theme o' tours an tourin'. It therefore provided an opportunity for oor Henry tae throw in his tour on his Tiger 1050 with his wifey... erm least a think 'tis wifey ?

Note to sel': ask Tracey if she is or otherwise wouldnae dream o' it... as it is Henry we are talkin about here !

Note to Henry: see that's you startin tae settle in nicely; yer even gettin' slagged, which is a very good sign. OOOOOOOOOOO

Away Wahay 3 in reverse !!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO So yadder yadder..... has Henry not covered the country in sumthin of a figure of eight using the A93 and the A82 and includin' the celebrated North loop.

Give or take a bit, it was more or less the route of oor Away Wahay 3; only in reverse. But then he's a Triumph rider, so what can ye expect ! Mileage over this trip was an incredible 1600 miles in six days. The additional miles coming from a trip onto Skye - if my memory seves me well. Then sixth day miles... as, when they returned on the Friday. They then rode up to Nethy Bridge and over the Lecht an back down the A93 oan tha Saturrday !

Now all that is impressive enough. Certainly sufficient for me to be turnin' to Tracey to say; "Wow that was a big mileage sittin oot back !" Ye see I to had fallen into the aforementioned trap o' assumin' that pillion duty was the order of the day. But in mitigation yer honour, I had not seen or heard of Tracey riding her own bike in the months since they had joined. But there was a very good reason for this...

Ye see, as Henry explained to correct my error - Tracey had just the day before leaving on this epic stravaig aroon parts Alba, sat and past her CBT... OOOOOOO Then the next day hopped on her wee 125 an' set off behind the Henry..... OOOOO Now if that doesn't impress, then not a lot will.... imagine covering that kind of daily mileage and having only just passed your CBT that week !!!

Ah don't know- see weemin - they are made o' tough stuff......well done to you both and yer scribe hopes ye don't mind his highlihting each of yer superb efforts.

I know one thing, in fact make that twa things... OO

First to be fair tae the twa men that went along with ther' returnin' or new rider partners. It has to be said, that both men did well in aiding keepin' their ladies goin'... In other words - a good team effort, in both cases !

But more importantly; I am sure that the two men involved, are very very proud of both their ladies, an' man, I am as well: but then ah'm a sucker for people stories....

Knockhill BSB Superbikes...

Sunday 10th August

Times: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO All interested in going please arrive at Morrisons for 8.15am for an 8.30 departure. Tickets will be purchased on the day. If we get there say just before 10.00am... then we will not have to queue too much. But either way, buying tickets or not, a wee queue will still be a part of yer day. O

Parking:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NB: All parking will be free and at the track with no park and ride etc, as Knockhill now has a new car-park facility behind the track... but remember to bring a can or yer regular puck for yer stand.

Weather:Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Worth noting that the tickets that were on sale at the Superbikes in the Square (George) on Wednesday, were not any cheaper than Sunday's gate price. OOOOOOO But on the upside, waiting until Sunday will allow for a 'Knockhill Weather' decision on the Sunday morning.OIf it's not looking at all well - as in MET office report for Dunfermline is showers - read as constant rain at Knockhill... O Then the game plan is that all attendees can take oor Raymie up on his very kind an' generous invite.....

The invite bein', that if indeed the weather is dodgy... then we can all head up to the big fellah's to watch his tele'.... See, Raymie advises he has some good DVD's (er, of bike racing that is !) that'll entertain us 'til the first BSB race kicks off.

Breakfast Club: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo Oh an' if anyone has a mind furra bacon, egg, black pudding urr tattie scone roll... Then it seems Raymie's invite didnae mention food.... eh !? OOOOOOOOOOO OOOOO Now this may seem to those who know oor man, a bit strange ! But heh, as ye know; where there's a Raymie, there's bound to be food close by... arf arf ! O

Jocularities aside, we could mebbe help oor man out by crossing over the car park into Morrisons to pick up some scran supplies for up the road, or better still, we could jist grab an early mornin' brekkie while in there.

Butt size: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo Please note that indamannies loonge, arse space is limited to ah'd say... around 5 or mebbe 8 at a squeek, this is o' course dependent on how 'cheeky' the erses are.

See ya all on this sunny Sunday morn' ? :)

Trackday and 'ither news...

Tracknight: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO The Knockhill Tracknight had to be postponed. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O See this was erm doon tae ... erm ther' no' bein' any places left ! OOOOOOOOOOO Wit did a tell ye's...a knew ye wer makin' a mistake when ye kept tellin' Yer Gaz to no' book too early... jist in case numbers changed nearer the time. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I hope that's made it clear it wisnae ma fault... it wis yoo lot so it wis. arf arf !

Anyway, as indicated below, alternatives are available on both August 22nd and possibly also Sept 4th. The second date is still to be confirmed as yer man writes.

British Superbikes: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Please note the change of date for Raymie's run down to St Mary's Loch. OOOOOOO It'll now be on Aug 17th. (See Club Runs Listings) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO This is to enable those of us who.... O

a) Want to ...and with this want have... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO b) A fat enough wallet and... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO c) Also, have the all important ither half permission for a day permit... O

One that allows gettin up tae Knockhill to see the big boys playin' on their big scary Superbikes. Is this guid (?) oh aye, it's jist the ticket price puts me off.

Yarn updates for Away Wahay 3 and the Kelso weekend: OOOOOOOOOOOOOO Both blathers are imminent - as in this week or next - watch for em springin' oot o nowhere.....

Nae news is guid news !!!

A wee update from big club nicht for oany interested parties that may be reading.

KELSO Weekend:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO No news is available from the Club Big meeting, as Yer Gaz wasn't in attendance. OO As yet, no one has phoned with an update - an' ah'll be a monkey's uncle if anyone thinks ah'm gonnae chase the blether.OIt comes here of it's own accord, or not at all... so, nah nah ne nah nah !

Knockhill Trackday: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO One thing a can tell ye all; is the July Trackday is cancelled (probably). We or at least five off interested parties are first on the reserve/cancellation list. So places may yet be avail' but Yer Gaz thinks that it'll likely be too late in the day to secure the bodies and bikes to get up there; not to mention the spectators that wanted to come along. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

So other dates are now being considered: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FridayOOOOOO August OOO22nd 6 - 8pm OOOO Cost: £45 OOOOO SaturdayOOOiiiiiSeptemberOiii6thii9 -i12pmooooiiiiCost: £55

Ye'll see from the above that most unfortunately, Stuart cannae now go... boo hoo.

But on the updside there is mebbe now a spare place: that is unless our Ross steps into the void... havin' said that; the more the merrier. So, if anyone would still like to attend; remember ye can easy book yer ain beds..... jist call yer man here an let me know an Ross may well prefer to camp......

Mileage over the three days is around 750miles max and those going will be enjoying the finest o' Alba's bonnie roads. Marquee/Gazebo:
This is needed for the Kelso weekend and is as they say; 'in hand'. Though a final decision is still being chewed on. The options being, whether to buy cheap an cheerful, at around the £75 mark and replace nigh on every year; or spend some bucks around £300 and purchase a quality unit - yer man here, tends towards the latter, by the way. We'll keep ye posted.

Track Day:
Yer Gaz has made no moves on this - too busy - but will upon return from Away Wahay. Names are still as below - scroll down to earlier news if ye want to check who is going etc.

Mag / Bimmff (BMF):
There has been no progress to date on our joining either the MAG or the BMF. As far as yer writer is aware, there has not as yet, been an actual committee meeting that would enable a decision on this, or even clarity on the other matters above. Thing is, watch this space - it may happen one day !?

Recent Runs and the NW200:
See reports now added under Events.

Bikesafe: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO The requested Bikesafe presentation for a club night, will not be happenning this year. Feedback from the 'Boys in Blue' on their bikes, is that they are completely booked out. However RBMCC are now marked in for a presentation next year and then following this, some assessed rides - these will be drawn from a hat as they are costly and time consuming and hence only limited spaces are available.

Tha tha... tha, tha, ...that's all folks....

We meet every Monday night at Sweepers in Cambuslang,

But it has been decided that every first Monday of the month, the club night will be

a.…

'Big Meeting'

At each monthly big meeting all the month to month news an' stuff will be dealt with
So, the committee would like as many members as poss' to attend.

This is to make sure more of you - the members - can discuss ride out's, weekends away, nights out ... and also to pay any monies for weekends away or clothing etc.
